Join us on July 22, 2017 at Healdsburg Veteran’s Memorial Beach for the one women-only triathlon that helps cancer patients in treatment. Challenge yourself with these Sprint and Olympic-distance triathlons, Olympic-distance relays and the Duathlon and help an important cause.
True to a tradition inspired by our namesake, Barb Recchia, Barb’s Tri raises support for people who face a cancer diagnosis. As a part of her entry, each athlete raises money for the Sutter Institute for Health and Healing and other great organizations serving Sonoma County. Barb, a long time volunteer known throughout the triathlon world, has herself twice been faced with the daunting task of fighting cancer. She has take this challenge head-on and currently lives a full and healthy life.

Our races start on July 22 at 7am and as are true to the Sprint and Olympic distances as possible. Here are the distances for each event:
Olympic Distance – Swim: .93mi (1.5km); Bike: 24.8mi (40km); Run: 6.2mi (10km)
Olympic Relay – Swim: .93mi (1.5km); Bike: 24.8mi (40km); Run: 6.2mi (10km)
Sprint Distance – Swim: .5mi (750m); Bike: 12.4mi (20km); Run: 3.1mi (5km)
The swim takes place on a course that starts on the beach at Memorial Beach and swims towards the town of Healdsburg. The course will be buoyed and supported by kayak and paddleboard. While this is a river, the current is light and very friendly to first-time athletes.
The bike course for the Olympic and Relay is an out-and-back course that leaves Veteran’s Memorial Beach on Healdsburg Avenue, towards Eastside Road, then follows Westside Road to just north of the City of Healdsburg, then heads back to Memorial Beach. The Sprint and Duathlon bike course is an out-and-back course, with a turn around on Eastside Road. For course information, including maps and turn-by-turns, visit barbstri.com
All running courses follow an out-and-back course on Bailhache Ave, running towards Rio Lindo.
When you compete in Barb’s, you’re reaching for the possible in the belief that with your best effort you can overcome anything. In that spirit, our athletes are required to fundraise to support patients with a cancer diagnosis, who, like our namesake Barb, are overcoming seemingly great odds in fighting cancer. In order to start the race, each athlete needs to raise or donate between $100 and $150 ($225 for the Relay), depending on the event. Learn more about fundraising and our fundraising requirement.
